We're Off To See The Wizards
After the last quarterly workshop this past November, we decided to make it a point to attend as often as possible. So, when the Baltimore Quarterly hit the schedule and our club announced they'd be sending a contingent, we knew it was time to make good on that promise. And when International Trainers Steve Renata, Kylie Gates, and Susan Tolj showed up on the schedule we started packing our bags.

As luck would have it though, a little problem has cropped up. Tami thinks it's funny, but I'm not laughing. See, it's a 5 1/2 hour drive from here to Baltimore, and our club is renting two vans for us twelve instructors - eleven of whom are ladies. They're already coordinating outfits. By the time we get there they'll probably have me bound and gagged, hands tied behind my back, wearing a pink dress. Look, you can call me chauvinist, prejudiced, whatever you want - but, I'm here to tell you this won't be a fun trip. Not for me anyway.

I've already established with our GFM that I won't be driving. The laws here in the States tend to frown upon drinking whilst operating a motor vehicle - even for medical reasons.

Oh darn!! When I started reading your post about going to the quarterly, I thought I was going to get to meet you both.....and then I read Baltimore......oh well. I am going, but to another destination. I am looking forward to finally getting to a quarterly after all this time. I really want to try out some of the other LM classes since we don't have them all where I am.

Enjoy your trip......and Craig, a car full of ladies??? hee hee, good luck!!

You are too kind - We love to meet people who read our blog! Well, not sure which quarterly you're going to but we looked long and hard at the Atlanta one - Tami has family there and we almost went to that one. But when our club put together a group to Baltimore we decided that was the one for us. 'Course, if we feel rich (and ambitious!) we might just try and go to Atlanta too. But first we better see if there's anything left of us after this one!

I feel your pain but you are just going to have to suck it up and hang in there! Of our GE staff of 31, 6 are guys and only one other teaches Bodypump. When I did my Bodypump training it was 13 women to 2 guys and the other guy was the same age as my oldest daughter!
Yea, we are islands. You better get to like the water!

I was at the Les Mills quarterly last July in Las Vegas and the ratio was about the same there too. It is just the way of the GE world.

I'll look forward to a post on your Baltimore experience. Maybe they will provide a little insight into Bodypump in the post Mike era. It would be nice to know what is going on with that. The lack of any kind of press release or BLOG post is concerning.

I flew thousands of miles to Las Vegas specifically to do a Pump class with Mike and have a chance meet him and say thanks for his efforts (Am I gald I went now!) The Bodypump class lived up to my expectations and I did get to meet him after. I thought the rest of their program was less than satisfactory, including the half hour of Bodypump related training that was done after the class by some of the people you will see in Baltimore! In addition, I thought the team of "international trainers" was about as unfriendly and distant as they could possibly be. For the most part, I thought they all hid in a corner of the ballroom, before during and after the class. This quarterly was just after the split with BTS so my expectation was of a much more welcoming, friendly atmosphere.

Have fun in Baltimore, I'll be looking for your report.

I was trying to go to the Chicago workshop as it is closer to me, but the timing didn't work out with my husbands schedule, so I had to put in for the Ft. Worth quarterly. Really, it doesn't matter where I go, just so I go!!

I do enjoy your blogs with Tami and I share a lot of your info with my fellow instructors and members. Have a great time in Baltimore!

Mark - Your comment inspired me to tackle the subject of male instructors in this latest post. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the subject! And thank you Niki for the encouragement as well!!
